It’s Never Too Late for Fresh Faith with a Fresh Phone!

It’s Never Too Late for Fresh Faith with a Fresh PhoneWhen my phone died, I lost most of my apps, recent calls and text messages, along with some very important notes I’d just entered. In the first moments, my heart palpitated with panic. But soon after my cell was restored to its factory settings, a soothing calm settled over my frazzled nerves. You see I’ve had my trusty iPhone 3GS for nearly four years. We’ve been through a lot. I’ve navigated highways and back roads with my phone’s TomTom leading the way. Many a book or article outline was started in my Notes. C25K and I have started and stopped training for my first run a few times over. I’ve taken several calls and texts from people all over the country, to talk about speaking engagements and coaching arrangements. My old phone has been with me almost since the beginning of my journey as a professional speaker and writer, and I confess to feeling a bit insecure without her. But looking at her technology washed screen, once I realized the lost data wasn’t coming back, I experienced a strange sense of relief. I realized how refreshing her clean, restored to new face was. I felt peace instead of anxiety, at the thought of starting over with a fresh slated iPhone. And the timing was perfect, since I’ve procrastinated on updating to more current technology. Gone is the fear that something might happen in the transfer of data, causing me to lose stored information. The worst already happened. I did have a backup on my computer, but must confess it’s been far too long since I did one, making the info I restored almost as irrelevant as 3GS is compared to the iPhone 5.But this situation examples forward progress in real life. Rarely do we end something that holds us back, until we are forced, or circumstances become so painful we can no longer stand the status quo. For any new thing to begin, something must end. Such is the way of risk — and success. It takes faith!
  • Faith is believing in what you can’t yet see, feel, hear, smell, or taste.
  • It is taking action and stepping out, into a vast unknown, where few have the courage to tread.
  • Faith is trusting in results invisible today, but that will sparkle in tomorrow’s sunlight.
  • Faith is embracing the knowledge, that most of what happens in a day is not the worst thing that could have happened — and thanking God for that fact.
  • Faith is realizing most of the things we fear never happen at all.
  • Faith is knowing you are not alone, in any crisis you experience.

The path of faith is taking me beyond my comfort zone in many areas of life right now. I’m daring to join with new people, like Sue Falcone owner of “Simply” Sue Speaks!, to test new boundaries, and to move in new directions. In order to succeed, I must walk past my fears, knowing I will survive. After all, it’s never too late for a fresh start with fresh faith, or a fresh phone.Anita Agers-Brooks is a Business and Inspirational Coach, Certified Personality Trainer, Productivity Expert, Certified Training Facilitator, Communications Specialist, national speaker, and author of, First Hired, Last Fired — How to Become Irreplaceable in Any Job Market. She’s a partner in The Zenith Zone, a business coaching firm.
