Eight Qualities of a Model Believer
Reading l Thessalonians recently, I was struck by a phrase the Apostle Paul made in the first chapter of this book. He said that the believers in Thessalonica were a “model” to all the other Christians in the area. What do you think a “model” Christian looks like? No—not a size 6, pretty blonde or brunette!
Here are eight qualities we can all have no matter what we look like! Check them out for yourself:
v.3 You serve Christ as an expression of your faith in Him. (see James 1:22)
v.3 You labor sacrificially for His kingdom because you love Him. (Col. 3:23-24)
v.3 Your confident hope in Christ’s return gives you godly endurance and patience.
v.6 You watch and imitate mature believers to learn how to live. (2 Tim. 3:14)
v.6 You welcome God’s Word, letting it change you. (Heb. 4:12)
v.8 Your faith in God is known by all who know you. (Matt. 5:14-16)
v.9 You consistently turn to God whenever you recognize an idol in your life. (Ex. 20:2-3)
v.10 You are waiting and longing for Christ’s return. (Rev. 22:20)
How did you do? If you’re like me, there are probably at least a few areas that need some thought, prayer, and action.
Question: Which ones do you think you need to work on the most? What actions will you begin to take? I’d love to know and cheer you on.
