I was down on my knees in a dark corner of our office this morning trying to read a 13 digit identification code on our computer router. The print was so small I couldn't make it out accurately and had to run to another room, grab a lamp and plug it in.  Once light flooded the dark corner, instead of blindly making a guess, I could see the code clearly.  (I wish I could say it solved my internet problem but it didn't!)We all need light every day.  We need outer physical light from the sun as well as from various fixtures and lamps.  We also need inner light to see what we're dealing with and to guide our choices, decisions, and priorities. Are you wondering what to do in a confusing situation?  Do you feel like you're walking in darkness and need direction?  Are you stumbling around, troubled and tripping over painful issues?  God wants to provide insight and help.  He wants to shine His light on our path--but we need to be reading and absorbing His words on a regular basis to know what direction to move in.Here are some verses and questions about light to encourage your growth:

  • Psalm 119:105:  Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. How is God's word influencing a decision you're facing?
  • Psalm 119:130:  The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. What understanding has Scripture given you about a situation you're dealing with?
  • Psalm 27:1: The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? With the Lord's presence in your situation, what are you fearing?
  • John 8:12:  I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness. If you're dealing with darkness in some form, will you ask God to help you do whatever is necessary in order to follow Jesus and walk in the light?

I'd love to hear back from you in the comment section following this blog.  How is God speaking to you about the value of taking in His Word?  What practical difference has it made in your life? Do let me know!
