Talk about Jesus: Five Tips To Help You Be Ready
Sharing your story takes planning and preparation. Here are five tips from Karen Robbins in her last post on this topic.
1. Pray for opportunities. Our prayer should be the same as the Apostle Paul’s in Colossians 4:2-6 that God would give him many opportunities to share the gospel and that he would share it clearly.
2. Write out how you came to faith in Christ and practice sharing it. Include what your life was like before you knew Christ, how you came to know Him, and how your life has changed. You will feel more comfortable and confident when the occasion arises to talk about your own experience.
3. Memorize Scripture verses so that you can share them easily. I used to carry a New Testament with tabs so that I could find the verses easily and in the order that made sense to me. But remember that being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit is more important than sticking to any particular plan.
SALVATION VERSES TO KNOW WELL: John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, 1 John 1:9, Revelation 3:20, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8 & 9.
4. Be transparent and honest. No one can argue with your experiences. Refrain from getting side-tracked in your conversation. Rabbit trails are for rabbits.
5. Be sensitive in how the person is responding to what you are saying and know when to change the conversation. People are not always ready to hear the entire plan of salvation. You have planted some seeds. Leave the results to God.
Philip invited Nathanael to come and see Jesus in John 1:46. Whether a one-time event or walking alongside someone in life, make the most of every opportunity.
