Speak Up and Share Your Faith
Visiting a friend in the hospital? Take notice of people in the halls and waiting rooms who are sad and hurting. When I found out my dad was dying of cancer, I went to a waiting room to make phone calls. A mother and daughter sitting nearby saw me crying and heard my conversations. When I hung up, they walked over and asked if they could pray for me. It was very comforting and just what I needed.
Be aware of people around you. Once when I visited a Christian friend in the hospital, another patient, Carrie, listened in on our conversation that centered on God. She opened up about her sadness and loneliness. I quickly realized how unloved this woman felt, and I just blurted out, “Carrie, do you know how much God loves you?” With a surprised look, she responded with a simple, “No.” I shared the gospel and answered her questions. Thirty minutes later, she prayed to receive Jesus Christ as her Savior. I got her address and phone number and mailed her a Bible the following week.
Don’t be afraid to talk with people who are offering their own spiritual materials. You know Who the Truth is and the difference He has made in your life. Offer to listen to them if they will listen to you. Never engage in arguments.
Question: What opportunities has God given you to share about Who has changed your life?
Watch for next week's blog when Karen will share some questions that generate spiritual conversations.
