Jesus LIVES! Reality Check.
My quiet day working at the computer was just shattered by the sound of crashing, falling, banging and moans of pain. No, it's not me that slipped or fell but a painter working in our small guest bathroom. He set his step-ladder in the bathtub but somehow it slipped and he fell backwards, all the while trying to keep his full paint can from splashing everywhere! He succeeded--but I wish he'd stop painting and persevering through pain. He needs to take care of himself and get to a doctor--especially as he thinks he's broken a few ribs!
Being willing to persevere is good in most situations (but not all of them). In fact, it's how Paul accomplished so much for the Lord. I was struck by this today when I read another of his inspiring life-principles:
"I do everything I can to win everyone I possibly can" (1 Cor. 6:22, CEV).
Thinking about his statement, I realize that's how I want to be--flexible yet focused, sensitive to the background and culture of whoever I'm talking to, doing all I can to motivate and encourage them to know and love Jesus.
Why does it matter to me? Because I can't help but stop and think about the amazing transformation a relationship with Christ can make. Knowing God loves and accepts me has brought profound changes, emotionally and spiritually.
I always want details I can chew on, so rather than make sweeping statements, let me share some of the nitty-gritty ways we can experience the reality of God. Check them out and see what else you can add from your own walk with Him:
- He wants to replace ignorance, distortions, and fears about God, with truth
- He wants you to know He's your Rock, stable, safe, strong, in your trials and difficulties
- He wants to change your perspective on life, transforming your values and priorities
- He offers freedom from the bondage of shame and failure in the past, and today
- He heals your heartache, takes away your hopelessness, and puts joy in your soul
These blessings, and many more, can utterly change how you face life. Have you experienced these blessings--or others? Jesus Christ LIVES! What can you point to that proves this in your life? I hope you can list many proofs that you've seen in your life--and that remembering them makes you spill over with joy and praise!
(BTW, the painter is still painting despite my pleas that he take care of himself!)
Happy Easter,
Poppy
