Improve Your Emotional Health!

I gave a talk called Take Care of Yourself  last week at a breakfast for professional business people.  This excerpt of ideas for improving our emotional health (collected from various sources) was requested by one of the attendees and I wanted to share it with you.  Hope you find it motivating! When Regina Brett of Ohio turned 90, she looked back over the years and wrote a list of 45 lessons life had taught her. Here’s just seven of the 45 that will improve your life.1. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.2. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and FAMILY will. Stay in touch.3. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.4. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.5. If a relationship has to be a secret, ask yourself: what am I doing in it?6. Frame every seeming disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'7. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.Living at a crazy pace produces stress and affects us emotionally —so here’s a quick list of stress-busters that I'm trying to put into practice whenever I can:Take a snoozeEat a carbo snack before bed to help you sleep betterTurn everything off and sit for five minutes or longer in silence—preferably outdoorsSnuggle with the one you love—or do something else that comes naturally!Share what’s making you uptight—talk to a friend rather than to yourself!Recall something funny, laugh, check out humorous websites or YouTubeWhat do you do to reduce stress?  Got some ideas to share with other readers?  Write and let us know.
