Easter: Jesus Lives in You!
Before I became a believer in Jesus, Easter meant devouring as much of a Cadbury’s chocolate Easter bunny as I could before my mother took it away! Our English Easter bunnies were not the hollow types that you find here in America, they were filled with little chocolates. Talk about a yummy sugar high!
But Easter is more than chocolate bunnies!
Easter is a reminder of this daily truth: Jesus is alive! He indwells every believer through His Spirit (Romans 8). Because of this:
- You are free from condemnation
- You have the power to overcome sin
- Jesus was your sin offering
- Your mind wants what the Spirit desires
- Controlled by the Spirit, you have peace
- He will lead you by His Spirit
- You can cry “Abba” Father. You are His!
- You are an heir of God
- The Spirit intercedes for you
- God works all things for your good
- You are being transformed, bit by bit!
- God is for you.
There are so many other reasons to celebrate Easter that I find it hard to stop. What springs into your mind? How have you experienced the Risen Christ as alive and life-changing since you came to Him?Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:14,
“If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
I’ve had the joy of encouraging most of you face to face. I know that you wouldn’t have come to a retreat or conference hungry to grow if you didn’t have faith that Jesus has been raised and is active in your life.As Easter approaches, let me encourage you again. In addition to pretty spring clothes, flowers, Easter baskets, and chocolate bunnies, will you get your heart ready to celebrate the greatest miracle that has ever happened?
Here are three things that will prepare you to celebrate:
- Reflect on how and when you’ve experienced Jesus’ reality in your life
- Reflect on the price He paid for you to be His
- Reflect on the life-transforming power that dwells in you and that you have experienced because HE IS ALIVE!
Have a very blessed and joyful Easter—but watch out for those tempting chocolate bunnies!
